Why does the app say my child’s keyboard may have an issue?

This message appears when BrightCanary detects that your child’s keyboard may not be set up correctly or may have stopped sending activity.

This message can happen if:

  • The keyboard has never sent data since setup
  • The keyboard has not sent data in the last 24 hours
  • Allow Full Access is turned off
  • Another keyboard is installed and may be interfering with monitoring

To fix this, check the keyboard settings on your child’s device: Open the Settings app > General > Keyboard > Keyboards

Then, make sure:

  • BrightCanary Keyboard is installed
  • Allow Full Access is turned on for BrightCanary Keyboard
  • No extra keyboards are installed besides BrightCanary Keyboard and Emoji

If these settings are not correct, keyboard activity may be delayed, missing, or may not appear in the app.
